Building a Warm Home with Love: CHICOS Team Gives Stray Animals a Second Chance
Standing before the newly constructed brick-red kennel at the Kunming Bodhi Welfare Garden, I watched a Labrador, once wounded by a wire, now resting comfortably on the concrete floor under the warm sun. Just three months ago, this place was merely a wire fence, letting the wind pass through. Today, it has transformed into a “home for furry children,” providing warmth in winter and coolness in summer. As a participant in Chicos Team's third charity walk, I was deeply moved by the visible transformation and the powerful mission of "making beloved pets part of the family."
These animals had been abandoned due to injuries and illnesses, once huddling together in leaky shelters, shivering from the cold. But with the construction of the brick kennels we donated, 257 pairs of grateful eyes not only filled with curiosity about their new homes, but also sparkled with a renewed trust in the kindness of humanity. One volunteer shared, "Every time I administered medication to a stray animal with chronic kidney failure, he would gently lick my hand—an expression of tenderness from a life that had been hurt but was still willing to give love."
